01About
Portrait of Dr. Surya Prakash Singh

Dr. Surya Prakash Singh, FRSC

Senior Principal Scientist
Department of Polymers & Functional Materials
CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology

Dr. Surya Prakash Singh studied chemistry at the University of Allahabad and received his PhD in 2005. He began as a research associate at CSIR-IICT, then spent five years in Japan — as a postdoctoral fellow at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Assistant Professor at Osaka University, and researcher at the National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba — before returning to CSIR-IICT in 2011.

He was later a BASE Fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara, with Prof. Bazan's group. His work centres on the design and synthesis of functional π-conjugated molecules for photonic applications; he has published over 225 papers, reviews and patents, edited two books and written a book chapter.

“…for his contributions to advanced functional materials and translational research, including innovations in solar cell technologies and bio-imaging dyes.”
